The Witch of the North

Whenever I start a new project, I usually bring two or more completely unrelated concepts to the table. The fun part is seeing how those ideas collide—because the mash-ups often lead to something fresh and unexpected.

This character, the Witch of the North, came from blending two inspirations: the Ents from The Lord of the Rings and Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus. My concept was that she exists without a body for half the year, then re-emerges each autumn by growing into a new physical form, reaches full strength in winter, and dies again in spring. In other words, she’s a creature born from the cold forests of the North—ever cycling, ever returning.
