There are countless Native American stories about the “giants of the woods,” known in the Halkomelem language as Sasquatch. But have you ever wondered what actually happened during one of those encounters?

Picture this: two young hunters—perhaps teenagers on their first trip alone—suddenly come face to face with a towering, nine-foot-tall figure. They’ve heard the stories all their lives, but never seen one up close. Panic sets in. One stumbles, nearly falling, while the massive creature simply watches. He isn’t alarmed—if anything, he seems mildly amused. The boys are no threat to him. Calmly, he observes as the two frightened hunters sprint back toward their settlement.
